Bringing History to the Public

Combe Mill

Mid-19th century sawmill with working steam beam engine, original Cornish boiler, presently out of service, and a working blacksmith’s forge and a waterwheel now turning with pumped water. On Event Days the beam engine will be running as will the three other small engines in the building. Also the forge will be in use where you and the children can make your own poker or hanging basket bracket. There is also an exhibition of hand tools, working tower clocks and wood turners at work as well as a display of stationary engines and equipment. There is a lovely riverside picnic area and a refreshment bar selling coffee, tea and homemade cakes.
